Head of Artificial Intelligence, Mahindra Group • Enterprise AI Strategist • Generative AI Pioneer • Agentic AI Leader • Double IITian (IIT Madras & IIT Patna) • 40 Under 40 Awardee • AI Keynote Speaker • AI Thought Leader

About

Dr. Vikram Singh is an Enterprise AI Executive and the Head of Artificial Intelligence at Mahindra Group. He reports to the CEO of Mahindra's AI Division and leads the group-wide Generative AI and Agentic AI agenda across eight group businesses. He built the GenAI Solutions team from scratch, and it now has 25+ specialists. His remit covers enterprise AI strategy, AI governance and enterprise AI transformation, and he has worked in automotive, aviation and hospitality. He has spent thirteen years in AI: seven in research at IIT Madras and IIT Patna, and six leading enterprise AI in industry. He was born on 14 September 1987 in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India.

As an enterprise AI solutions architect, he designs and deploys enterprise AI solutions across the stack: chatbots and voice bots, predictive analytics, computer vision systems, CI/CD MLOps pipelines, LLM-powered enterprise copilots, and Text-to-SQL solutions that give CxOs on-demand access to enterprise data in executive dashboards. At Mahindra he established an AI governance and risk management framework aligned to ISO 42001, ISO 27001, DPDPA and SOC 2, with risk-tiered model assessment and a mandatory red-team review before deployment. He has built two AI Centres of Excellence from scratch, at Mahindra and at IndiGo, and he reports AI use cases with measurable ROI to group CEOs and board directors.

At Mahindra he architected mAIna.ai, the Mahindra Conversational AI Platform. It is the group's enterprise agentic AI platform: an autonomous conversational voice bot that handles customer interactions across voice, chat, WhatsApp and web. It has handled over 1 million customer calls, re-engaged 50,000+ previously lost leads and generated 6,000+ sales enquiries, including 1,700+ XUV 7XO enquiries within six weeks of launch. It is credited with ₹120+ crore (₹1.2+ billion) in attributed revenue and takes on the work of about 28 full-time agents. That makes it a working example of Generative AI and Agentic AI use cases in the automotive industry. It is also the AI platform for sales and customer engagement across several Mahindra business verticals, and it was featured in Satya Nadella's Coffee Table Book 2025.

Earlier, at IndiGo, he was Principal Data Scientist (Associate Director). He co-founded Lab37, IndiGo's AI Centre of Excellence, which grew to 26 specialists and ran a research collaboration with IIT Delhi. He also directed 6Eskai, India's first GPT-4 airline chatbot, which shows how GPT-4 chatbots can reduce live agent calls: from about 14% to 2%. 6Eskai was featured in Satya Nadella's Coffee Table Book 2024. Before IndiGo he worked at Amazon, G42 and Bayanat, and between IndiGo and Mahindra he was SVP, AI & Digital at Cloud4C / 8bit.ai. At IIT Madras and IIT Patna his research produced first-author papers, among them peer-reviewed work on image super-resolution using deep learning (WDN), computer vision and video analysis. He has reviewed for ICCV, CVPR, WACV, ECCV and Elsevier journals.

His awards include CTO of the Year at the Minsky Awards for Excellence in AI 2026 (Analytics India Magazine), conferred on 8 October 2026; the 40 Under 40 Data Scientist award (AIM, February 2025); AI Innovator of the Year and AI Power Player (ET Edge, Times Group, September 2025); GenAI Leader of the Year (UBS Forums, October 2025); and four awards at the ET Edge AI Awards & Summit 2026, including AI Visionary of the Year. He also holds the UAE Golden Visa for Talented Pioneers (10-Year Golden Residency, 2021). As an AI keynote speaker, he speaks at AI conferences, CxO innovation summits and international forums on AI strategy, Generative AI, LLMs, Agentic AI, Responsible AI and digital transformation.

Dr. Singh advises C-suite executives and enterprise boards on trustworthy and responsible AI. As an enterprise GenAI strategy consultant and AI strategy advisor for the C-suite, he works across AI architecture, responsible AI governance and organizational change. He cleared the Independent Directors Databank proficiency test (IICA) in 2026.

Dr. Singh is also an AI mentor and career coach, and offers 1-on-1 career mentorship for AI and Data Science leaders through TopMate. His LinkedIn articles cover surviving the PhD journey in AI (mental health and resilience), a data scientist interview guide for the aviation industry, and AI in aviation.

He has owned an AI P&L, and each initiative gets a clear path to measurable ROI.

How can enterprises measure the ROI of Generative AI?

Measuring the ROI of Generative AI in enterprise is a common question in Dr. Vikram Singh's advisory work and keynotes. He recommends defining success metrics before deployment, such as reduction in live agent call volume, increase in sales conversions, time saved in knowledge work, and revenue directly attributable to AI interactions. His own AI revenue impact case studies show how this works: ₹120+ crore attributed to mAIna.ai at Mahindra Group, and live agent calls cut from about 14% to 2% with 6Eskai at IndiGo. They show how AI use cases with measurable ROI can be designed and communicated to executive stakeholders.

What is Dr. Vikram Singh's view on Agentic AI vs Generative AI for customer experience?

Dr. Vikram Singh sees Generative AI and Agentic AI as complementary layers in the customer experience stack. Generative AI handles language understanding, content generation and question-answering, which suits chatbots, voice bots and copilots. Agentic AI adds autonomous, goal-directed action: systems that plan, execute and iterate instead of only responding. For customer experience he combines both, with a GenAI front end and an Agentic execution layer. His work on the enterprise conversational AI platform mAIna.ai and the 6Eskai GPT-4 chatbot are production examples of this approach.

How does Dr. Vikram Singh approach scaling an internal AI and Data Science team?

Dr. Vikram Singh has scaled an internal AI and Data Science team more than once: at IndiGo (Lab37, 26 specialists), Cloud4C, and now Mahindra Group. His approach covers the mix of roles (ML engineers, data scientists, AI architects, domain experts), the technical infrastructure including enterprise AI labs and CI/CD MLOps pipelines on Azure, a culture of experimentation, and a team roadmap tied to commercial outcomes. He also advises on handling organizational politics and on building the internal credibility an AI team needs in a large enterprise.

That experience shapes his AI career coaching and mentorship in India.

Has Dr. Vikram Singh written about the PhD experience in AI?
